Ho Chi Minh City Icon Project
The project Ho Chi Minh City Icon project is a self-designed creative art project that I created as one of my Honors experience. This time, I spent a lot of time on studying and creating a set of icons for Ho Chi Minh City. As stated in my Reflective essay, as I grow up I realize that Ho Chi Minh City deserves to be more widely known around the world. The project is one of the first steps I took in the process of globalizing the city.
During the first step of creating a set of icons, I was the only one involved in the project. The outcome of the project is the icon set you can see below.

One of the main reasons I chose to engage in the experience was because I loved where I am from. I realized that any city has its own personalities and uniqueness, and a lot of them have a visual set of icons to represent the city. It was even more interesting to see the iconic buildings and infrastructure in visual form.
The experience result came out great. Not only did I finally create an icon set for where I’m from, but also did I had a better idea of how many young Vietnamese really care about advertising and globalizing the city. If my prior experience is a direct action to improve my community, this experience is a more abstract and indirect take.
The experience is personally and professionally meaningful to me. On a personal level, I feel accomplished because I promised myself when I was younger that I would use my talent to bring Ho Chi Minh City to the world. On a professional level, the project shows other people that I have personal interest and intention to find personal design problems. This project really inspires me to take another further step to develop it into different medium and forms.
